THIS DAY IN HISTORY

June 2

1924 - The Snyder Act: The U.S. Congress granted U.S. citizenship to all American Indians.

This was overdue, and it is unfortunate (tragic?) that more Indians don't take advantage of the rights of citizenship...The sooner they get off the reservation and completely integrate into American society the better they will be.

And I don't want to hear any racist BS! I have some Indian blood myself, and am a realist...As long as they insist on being separate, they will never be equal.

Also, I am an absolute believer in the 'right of conquest,' and don’t sob for the loss of American Indian culture any more than I do the loss of the Scythians, Avars, Philistine's, etc...Someday ours will be conquered as well.

History is what it is, and all of humanity will be recycled over time.

455 – Vandals, led by Gaiseric, sacked Rome.

The Empire was in shambles and the Vandals gave rise to a new word - vandalism - due to their actions...This was one of many sackings of the great city, which only had a few more years of imperial existence in the West.

1774 - Britain passed the fourth of the 'Intolerable Acts' (the Quartering Act), requiring American colonists to house British soldiers upon request.

Just another slap in the face for the Colonists, and another event leading to the Revolutionary War.

1941 - Baseball's 'Iron Horse,' Lou Gehrig, died of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's Disease).

A great player, and an honorable and decent man...One of the many semi-mythological figures of my childhood.

1994 - The U.N. International Atomic Energy Agency reported it could no longer verify the status of North Korea's nuclear program, prompting the United States to seek economic sanctions.

So, Bill Clinton decided to give them the ‘whole enchilada’...Ugh!!!

1998 - Voters in California passed Proposition 227, effectively abolishing the state's 30-year old bilingual education program by requiring all children to be taught in English.

And then the courts overruled the ‘will of the people.’

I hope you know when Liberals say "Leave it to the states" they don’t mean the people of the states. They mean the state judges and Democrat run governments; whichever carries the biggest Liberal stick.
