THIS DAY IN HISTORY

January 6

1838 - Samuel Morse made the first public demonstration of the telegraph.

This was a huge event - an event which shrank the world, because anytime transport of people and ideas is made quicker or more efficient the Earth is made a little smaller.

1066 - Harald was crowned King of England.

By the end of the year, this 'king' was destroyed by a 'duke':  William the Conqueror.

1931 - Thomas Edison submitted his last patent application.

There have been very few inventors who match Edison's genius.  Thankfully he was born in a country which put his genius to help humanity, instead of destroy it.

2001 - The U.S. Congress formally certified George W. Bush the winner of the 2000 presidential election.

Every vote counts!  Unfortunately, even some votes which shouldn't count, count. Specifically, fraudulent votes from illegal aliens, dead people, and non-existent people - a Democrat specialty...Which is all the more reason why Republicans can never sit out an election cycle.

Sadly, Republicans didn't follow this advice in the 2008 and 2012 elections...Which is exactly how we ended up with such fantastically incompetent leaders as Barack Obama, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi dominating our lives.

Thankfully these lessens have been learned in recent elections...Unfortunately, they won't stay learned forever.
