THIS DAY IN HISTORY

June 5

1967 - The Six Day War erupted in the Middle East when Israel, convinced an Arab attack was imminent, raided Egyptian military targets.

This was the third of the Arab-Israeli Wars, and a pathetic showing by the Arabs, who were routed in six days.

Israel probably could have made itself master of the Middle East had it wished (militarily), but after American prompting decided to end it with some minor changes in the map: Seizing the Gaza Strip, Sinai Peninsula, West Bank and Golan Heights.

These areas are strategically important lands and Israel is stupid to return them, which they have been in the process of doing and will eventually regret terribly.

1794 - The U.S. Congress prohibited citizens from serving in any foreign armed forces.

This law has been flaunted since the day it was enacted, but generally Americans have joined worthy fights to serve in. That said, any American found fighting for our enemies should be considered an absolute traitor and face a traitors execution.

1872 - The Republican National Convention, the first major political party convention to include blacks, commenced.

Read that again, and make sure you remind black Democrats every chance you get.

1933 - President Franklin Roosevelt signed a bill abolishing the gold standard.

The 'gold standard' is the best, but the American dollar is backed by something much more powerful than gold...The American dollar is backed by America's political and economic stability (compared to the rest of the globe), production potential and military might.

Of course, it would be great if we were to return to the gold standard, but it will never happen...If nothing else, being on the gold standard (or any other legitimate standard) would require legitimate accounting and valuation of the currency, which will never happen again either, because there is no way to make our National Debt legitimate.

1940 - The Battle of France began:  WWII.

This didn’t take long...The French should have just invited the Krauts in if they weren’t going to fight.

1944 - The first B-29 bombing raid over Tokyo occurred:  WWII.

The first of many, in what became a B-29 induced Hell on Earth.

1968 -Senator Robert F. Kennedy was shot and mortally wounded after claiming victory in California's Democratic presidential primary. Gunman Sirhan Bishara Sirhan was immediately arrested.

Jack and Bobby should have known better than to double-cross the mob...How Fat Teddy escaped the assassins bullet I’ll never know.

1981 - The Centers for Disease Control published the first report about the disease which later become known as AIDS.

A new plague was discovered and has since killed millions. Fortunately, most AIDS deaths can be spared if people show a minimal amount of personal restraint...Unfortunately, restraint is an afterthought to many, and AIDS is running rampant among IV drug users and those practicing promiscuous sex (particularly homosexual men).

We should feel sorry for each AIDS victim, but those who bring it on themselves through uncontrolled behavior should be noted for all but asking for the death penalty of AIDS.

1986 - A federal jury in Baltimore convicted Ronald W. Pelton of selling secrets to the Soviet Union. Pelton was sentenced to three life prison terms plus ten years.

How pathetic we are going to have to pay for this treasonous piece of crap for the rest of his 'three lives'...A bullet to the back of the head would have cost $1, but instead we’ll pay millions.

1997 - Harold J. Nicholson, the highest-ranking CIA officer ever caught spying against the U.S., was sentenced to 23-years in prison for selling defense secrets to Russia after the Cold War.

How did 'Treasonous POS Pelton' (above) get three life sentences, plus ten years, but 'Treasonous POS Nicholson' only got 23-years?

Treason is treason!! Both should have died, but at worst they should have received similar life sentences.
